Fabric And Textile Specimens Making For Color Fastness Washing Testing

The color fastness test is to simulate the color fastness of textiles under different environments or conditions. There are many kinds of color fastness test items, such as soaping resistance, water stain, sweat stain, light fastness, etc. Different test items have certain differences in sampling. Even if it is the same test method, the sampling methods of different personnel are affected by factors such as habits and subjective judgments, which will cause certain differences in test results.

We roughly divide the color fastness items into three categories: water bath type, pressure type and light type.

Water bath type

The water bath type represents color fastness to soaping, color fastness to dry cleaning, etc. Such test samples are stirred in the equipment, and the sampling point is to take all colors.

The sampling of color fastness to washing must first consider the problem of lining fabric. This standard stipulates that the choice of lining fabric can be a multi-fiber lining fabric or two single-fiber lining fabrics. The lining fabrics include:

    (1) Multi-fiber lining fabrics containing wool and cellulose acetate (used for tests at 40°C and 50°C, and in some cases can also be used for tests at 60°C, which need to be indicated in the test report).

    (2) Multi-fiber lining fabrics without wool and acetate (used for some tests at 60°C and all tests at 95°C).

    (3) Single-paste lining fabrics include: cotton, wool, viscose fiber, polyamide (nylon), polyester (polyester), polyacrylonitrile (acrylic), hemp, silk, and acetate. Usually, most inspection agencies will choose multi-fiber lining, and the assessment requirements for multi-fiber lining are generally higher than that of single-fiber lining.
