Instrument Introduction:

 

The extended edge of the toe of the finished shoe sole is inserted under the blade of a fixed-arc cutter block connected to a force sensor. The sole and forefoot are placed at a slight angle or horizontally on a fulcrum behind the blade. Utilizing the lever principle, a gradually increasing force is applied to the fulcrum to separate the shoe sole from the upper. The strength of the adhesion between the toe and upper is assessed by the size of the initial separation.
